The Hong Kong Chapter celebrates French May Arts Festival's 30th Anniversary, donating wines for auction in support of cultural exchange
On May 18, 2023, French May Arts Festival 2023 held a 30th anniversary gala dinner at the Grand Hyatt Hong, and raised funds to support cultural and educational development as well as local artists.
Hong Kong’s Chief Executive John Lee and Christile Drulhe, the Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, officiated the gala alongside French May Arts Festival co-chairmen Pansy Ho and Mignonne Cheng. Over 200 guests attended the anniversary dinner to celebrate this important milestone, including our members William Doo Wai Hoi, Michelle Ong, Christopher Cheng Wai Chee.
We were delighted to donate 1 magnum Petrus 1970, 2 bottles Petrus 1997 and 2 bottles Petrus for live auction which is conducted by Christie’s. 10 incredible lots sold at the gala dinner, ranging from precious art and jewellery to exceptional French wines. HK$12 million was raised, which will go towards the Association Culturelle France of Hong Kong, the French May’s non-profit organisation to support the cultural, educational development and local artists.
The French May has become one of the most important annual cultural events in Asia since 1993, with more than 100 programmes including dance, drama and musical performances presented across two months in each year.
By sponsoring French May Arts Festival gala dinner, The Hong Kong Chapter hopes this will help to support the art and cultural exchange of France and Hong Kong, as well as providing Hong Kong people with opportunities to learn more about the beauty of French arts and culture.
