"Flavours from the Elysée Palace" Charity Dinner
On the evening of 16 May 2023,a meaningful charity dinner held to raise fund for migrant charity PathFinders, was a great success. Hong Kong Chapter would like to express our deepest gratitude to Mrs. Christile Drulhe, Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau for co-organizing the dinner. Also, Mr Tang was grateful for the overwhelming support from our fabulous members, donors and supporters.
Furthermore, Mr. Guillaume Gomez, Personal Representative of the French President for Gastronomy attended this memorable event as a special guest to foster French culture and to benefit the underprivileged in Hong Kong.
Under the theme of "Flavours from the Elysée Palace", the charity dinner is held at a private French restaurant in Central, with Mr. Gomez giving advice to each dish to provide guests with a taste of French culture and cuisine. Honorable guests could enjoy the same exquisite flavors as if they were in the palace in person.
Mr. Gomez, who joined the Elysée Palace in 1997, is an award-winning master chef who has cooked for four French presidents in the past 25 years, including Jacques Chirac, Nicolas Sarkozy, François Hollande, and Emmanuel Macron. In 2021, Mr. Gomez was appointed by President Macron as his Personal Representative of the French President for Gastronomy. This May, Mr. Gomez, is visiting Hong Kong, to embody this lifestyle and to promote French art de vivre(The French May Arts Festival).
Mr. Henry Tang, our President of The Légion d’Honneur Club Hong Kong Chapter Association; Board Chairman of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority; and member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, looks forward to more in-depth cultural exchanges between the East and the West in the future, contributing to Hong Kong's position as a centre for international cultural exchange.
The charity dinner successfully raised a total of HK$100,000 for PathFinders to ensure the most vulnerable and unsupported children and their migrant mothers in Hong Kong are protected and respected.
Charity dinner is a marvellous example of how art and culture can bring people together, creating meaningful, and manifold, connections between communities, countries and cultures.
