Donation of HK$116,000 to Summer French Language Course Scholarships 2022 to encourage students to study French language and culture

A HK$116,000 donation from the Legion d’Honneur Club - Hong Kong Chapter will support the establishment of Summer French Language Course Scholarships 2022, which jointly run by the Consulate General of France and the Hong Kong Chapter. Summer French language course scholarships are offered to students studying French in local higher institutions in Hong Kong and Macau like each year in order to encourage students to study French language and culture.

This year, 77 students benefited from the Summer French Language Scholarship programme granted by the Consulate General of France and the Légion d’Honneur Club – Hong Kong Chapter. They had the opportunity either to go to France to follow a month-long intensive course or to join a special tailor-made immersion programme at Alliance Française de Hong Kong. All outstanding students were from University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Education University and UOW College of Hong Kong.

A award ceremony was held on 6 December, 2022 at the Residence. In the presence of Mrs Christile Drulhe, Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau and Dr Henry Tang Ying Yen, the President of the Légion d’Honneur Club Hong Kong Chapter, and Mr Gérard Millet, General Secretary and professors from universities gathered to honor the selected students and celebrate their achievements. 

 

Consul General of Hong Kong Mrs Christile Drulhe expressed her heartfelt welcome to all guests and especially congratulated students on their success in French language learning.

Dr Henry Tang congratulated all scholarship recipients on their efforts, while emphasizing on the promising chances that French language ability can bring. 

 

After the certificate presentations, students had the opportunity to share with each other their joy and stories that they had during their summer immersion course in France and Hong Kong.
