The Hong Kong Chapter Commits HKD$140,000 to HKU-Pasteur Research Pole Fellowship Programme 2023

The Hong Kong Chapter is committed to building close ties with different universities to cultivate talent for Hong Kong and FranceWe have long supported Pasteur Foundation Asia through its HKU-Pasteur Research Pole Fellowship Programme, which provides a unique opportunity for postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows in Hong Kong and Macau to pursue their research projects at the Institut Pasteur in Paris.

 

We are delighted to collaborate with Consulate General of France and Pasteur Foundation Asia on this program to nurture a new generation of talent for the biochemical industry and promote the advancement of global scientific knowledge and public health,” said Dr. Henry Tang Ying-yen , the President of the Hong Kong Chapter.

The Hong Kong Chapter to Fund Biomedical Research Fellowships don HKU-Pasteur Research Pole Fellowship Programme 2023 was launched in October 2022. Four candidates  were selected to stay up to an internship of 4 months between July and November, at the Institut Pasteur, where the fellows can be part of a leading laboratory working on various fields of biomedical research, such as cancer, cell biology, immunology, neuroscience, parasitology, or virology. 

 

One of the candidates, Mr Ruopeng Xie said “It's an incredible opportunity to work with leading experts, gain access to advanced research facilities, and be part of a vibrant scientific community. The Fellowship not only supports the current research but also opens doors to new ideas, techniques, and invaluable networks that can significantly shape our future career.”

In addition to its generous donation to the Pasteur Foundation Asia, The Hong Kong Chapter demonstrates its commitment to nurturing young Hong Kong talent through various programmes. These initiatives include the Summer French Language Course Scholarships for young people in Hong Kong, which have successfully awarded more than 1,000 students over the past 17 years.
